Happy many years ahead of us

Through the years, some things just do not change. Like the way you tap your fingers while you sing a song; like how you play with your beard when you try to focus and think; and like how you always buy me that Hershey’s Chocolate bar every time you go to 711.

It’s amazing how you still manage to listen even to my overly repeated stories. And without fail, you always provide me with the warmth I need during rainy days. Perhaps, it could be scary at times knowing you know me too well. You know when I’m tired, irritable, and when I’m hungry. A man who could spell the difference between those seemingly similar sentiments is a keeper!

Life is indeed fun and exciting knowing you’ll always be my partner in everything. As you continue with your internship, just hang in there my love. After all, it only gets better and sweeter, my Hana.

See the World!

Seeing Panglao

Thanks to the people who bought all the plane tickets in the world, I finally had the best excuse to visit Bohol just for me to reach home. Who would have thought I could immediately start my travelling goal right after writing a post about starting a travel fund?

Although the original plan was to try Danao, Bohol’s Extreme Adventure Tour, I think just the thought of having to ride a habal-habal alone thru quiet mountains scared me more than the actual 60 meter jump off the cliff! Ha ha ha This is what criminal law cases on rape will do you. So the coward dawn decided to go to Panglao, instead. I thought maybe the road to Panglao would be a bit safer for a loner like me.

Thank goodness Alona Beach Resort doesn’t ask for entrance fees. Finding a pretty place to have lunch was easy because of the choices around. I tried The Buzzz Cafe (yes, that’s tripple z) where I finally had access to instagram and posted a couple of photos just to let family and friends know that I am still very much alive and apparently, hungry. They have a very beautiful place, though not air-conditioned, but hey, the beach afront offers fresh air!

At the end of the day, I thank God for the safety and for the chance to meet and greet around 10 new people. I learned a lot from this travel. Until the next travel opportunity!

Room Tour: Study Corner

Welcome to my little cornered world (where I often daydream than study)!

On my table, I have three empty (recycled) plastic cups from Starbucks and Seattle’s Best. I am not a huge fan of Seattle’s Best but because of this recent drive for a planner, I get a daily dose of their ice blended and milkshakes. Which I don’t really mind. I wanted to clear the clutter so I decided to just keep at least three books: my Pink and Black Mini Bibles, both were given by mom, and My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers which I have not finished yet ever since I bought it two years ago. Tsk.

I am loving my shiny black pouch (thanks ate ofelia) where I put my sticky notes, post-its, and other markers. Helps a lot in organizing things. And a sachet of instant coffee for the night.

And when I turned on the lights… Ready for the best Christmas-sy feeling ever!!

Exciting Stories, Project Thankful

Counting my blessings-naming them one by one

No amount of failed recitations can stop my heart from coming to worship and giving thanks to my God who is forever faithful.

In my pursuit for a grateful heart, today i had my test. My grateful heart, i thought, was put to test. I just had a failed recitation at school and cried my heart out after. I said, how come it wasn’t as good as the others when in fact i spent hours studying.

Several resolutions were thought of. One, maybe I did not study that much. Another, maybe i just freaked out a little. Or maybe I lacked prayers.

But then whatever it is, this failed recit will not stop me from praising my God. Today was full of grace and wonderful things like all other days.

First, when i was worried who can cook for.tonoght’s paw nyt snacks, the Lord provided Kuya Benig. One of the best cooks i’ve ever tried. Without exageration. For this, thank You Lord.

Second, today had a very beautiful blue sky. Since for the past few days, we’ve been having cloudy and dark skies, today i am happy and grateful to see some blue above! For this, thank You Lord.

Third, I am on my Chapter 3 on Daniel’s diet project. God is talking to me as I read each chapter. He is encouraging, comforting, and reminding me each time I read His Word. I also like my new diet lately. Vegies and fruits with 2 cups of rice. For this, thank You Lord!!

Fourth, i have found sisters in Christ. Jovie and Joy. They help me with paw nyt snacks. Their support and love makes me praise my God more. As we share deep thoughts of our recent struggles to each other, I praise my GOD for this kind of circle. The kind where you can pray for each other and realize it’s not only you who have issues. I am praying for my own version of Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. For this, thank You Lord.

Fifth, albert’s birthday is coming up. His life alone is a huge blessing not just to his family but also to me. 🙂 He is my support system, my buddy, friend, anything I want him to be. For him, thank You Lord.

Sixth, i actually have developed a kind of bond with my roommates. It’s very unusual for me to talk to them but recently i just had shopping with one of them. That’s an improvement don’t you think? For this, thank You LORD.

Seventh, of course it’s PAW NYT tonight. Paw nyt is a blessing because it gives me an unexpected refreshment. I come weary and crying I go out singing and dancing. Praise God! For this, thank You Lord!! ♥

and for the many things i have in my mind and in my heart like ny family and friends, thank You Lord for not letting one failed recitation make me forget how blessed I am for having You. I pray that the next time i’ll be called for recits, i’ll be able to answer for Your glory. ♥

Thank You Lord!! 🙂 Forever grateful for that Love that is soooo relentless.

New Year’s Reso

So many blessings happened to me lately, one of which is my new phone (^3^) Haha and His forever enabling wisdom (for midterm exams).

Today i choose to write about my belated new year’s resolution. It’s not really belated because I have started this since January 1st. Hihi

For this year, I choose to be more grateful. For me, being grateful is one of the traits we recipients tend to overlook. Sometimes, in our strong desire to follow Christ in obedience we forget that His grace can and will cover all our flaws and wrongs.

In fact, I thought being thankful is limited to receiving (only) “good” things. I used to think that I shouldnt be grateful for failed relationships, heart aches, lousy recitations, wet new shoes. But the more I try to see things clearly,i learned we should be grateful in everything! (James 1:2–count it all joy!)

Seeing the good in everything has made me see God in all things. And that’s pretty awesome.

Looking at every situation with keen and eager eyes, trying to find the best of it has become a project for me lately. The Project Thankful. (#projthankful)

Like whenever i am tempted to be impatient, I am reminded of how God’s patience with me would look like. It must be amazingly long!

So for today and every day after this, I am choosing to be thankful not just with big things but also with the little ones! And i humbly pray that for every failure, He’ll remind me of this resolution.

Thank You Lord!

Thoughts of a teacher

Project Thankful: I am thankful for the opportunity to serve Him in fields His power is best shown.

I am not a teacher by profession but I strongly believe, there’s a teacher in me. When I was in high school, I joined ministries for children and taught them Bible Stories. In our DVBS (Daily Vacation Bible School) during the summer, I also became a teacher of kids from 10-12 years of age.

Whenever there’s an opportunity, I’d rather be a teacher than a director or a planner. It’s more satisfying and fulfilling to be hugged and remembered by the kids. When they see you somewhere, they know twas you who taught them about Jacob and David.

ImageI enjoy teaching kids. I love the way they stare at me, so eager to learn what happened to Jonah when he was swallowed by that big fish. It makes my heart leap whenever I can find them thanking the Lord for saving Daniel’s friends from the fiery furnace. It’s so magical.

So whenever I am at home, I always volunteer to be the teacher. Even if it’s just for 3 Sundays, it doesn’t matter. I love to see the kids. I love explaining the Bible verses to them, helping them memorize those verses, and giving them lollies as a prize.

This photo is us with the kids. Last Sunday, our church is praising God for the new place for another children’s ministry. So we now have two children’s ministries. 🙂 What a blessing!

Thank You Lord. Thank You so much. I cannot repay You for Your goodness and for Your blessings.

Life is a Psalm, Project Thankful

Best things in life are Free!

Today I am thankful for this promise:

Psalms 103: 10

He hath not dealt with us after our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

Wow! What a relief!

Otherwise, I cannot imagine what will become of me if He is to treat me base on my performance.

But He does not! And I am very very very grateful for that.

The whole chapter of Psalms 103 talks about benefits if you have the Lord in you. I am laughing and overjoyed as I read the passage and as I write this post because I know for a fact I am availing such benefits even though I don’t deserve them.

How could that be?

Then it occurred to me. I have spent many years saving and spending for things I thought would make me happy, would make me complete, would make me feel loved.

But I am missing out on the Truth that in life, THE BEST THINGS ARE FREE!

Like Jesus, for example. He is offering us life eternal, joyous and bountiful life, light burden, guidance even unto the ends of the earth, grace, mercy, and the list goes on and on.

He is promising us ALL these, for free! Let me say it again, All these for free.

Just by allowing Jesus Christ enter our hearts and guide us, we avail of these goodies for free and forever.

That’s the best insurance one can ever have. And I am thankful to our Lord Jesus Christ for these wonderful blessings.

Praise and Glory to our King alone!
